Melissa Bistricer, MS, RDN/DPD:
[00:00:40] Welcome to another podcast at InViteⓇ Health. I will be the new addition to providing podcasting from a nutritional standpoint. My name is Melissa Bistricer and I am a registered dietitian. I am so excited to bring to you the nutritional aspect of nutrients here at InViteⓇ Health. I like to start off with the nutrition food for thought, so today’s is, a healthy outside starts from the inside out, meaning you take care of your inside, then the outside will look healthy as well. InViteⓇ Health promotes an integrated approach in providing vitamins into your daily life to increase your quality of life. In conjunction with nutrients, it is also important to learn and include other lifestyle modifications like nutrition, exercise and sleep. These practices with the use of vitamins will promote optimal benefits in your daily life.† [00:01:24]
SPECIFIC FOODS AND NUTRIENTS THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY SLEEP – INVITE HEALTH PODCAST, EPISODE 265
[00:01:25] Again, my name is Melissa Bistricer and I’m a registered dietitian. For those of you who don’t know what a registered dietitian is, it simply just means I went through six long years of school. Now, all joking aside, I have a very diverse background as I started my career field going for culinary arts and ended up being a registered dietitian. Well, you might be thinking, how did this all happen? Well, let me tell you. I started off college wanting to open a restaurant, so I completed my Associates in culinary arts. And then I wanted to continue my education and went for my Bachelor of Science degree in culinary nutrition at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. I quickly realized I loved the idea of food and nutrition being the best problem solver to the most problems in people’s lives. I wanted to help more people and educate the world on being able to change their lifestyles by simply modifying their diet, like preventing risk factors such as type two diabetes or heart disease. Therefore, I decided to continue my education even further and went to Stony Brook School of Medicine for my dietetic internship to become a registered dietitian to be able to be certified through the CDR, the Commission on Dietetic Registration, to provide medical nutrition therapy to individuals. This essentially just means I completed 1200 supervised practice hours in many different areas involved with nutrition, such as outpatient, in-patient, school food nutrition and even public health. The dietetic internship… I also decided to go for my master’s in integrative nutrition therapy, which will help me strengthen my knowledge in promoting an integrated approach to food and nutrition with the addition of vitamins and minerals.† [00:02:55]
[00:02:56] Well, let’s not only focus on food and nutrition, but let’s be honest. I’m always focused on food because I love to create new recipes, try new foods and meal plans. Do you like to try new foods? Well, the strangest things I’ve ever eaten had to be organ meats like liver, chicken, heart, and even sweetbreads. I was so not a fan of the chicken hearts or sweetbreads, but I did enjoy the liver a little bit. In my free time, I like to go on hikes, paint, work out and chill with family and friends. I have a strong will to help as many individuals as I grow in the InViteⓇ Health company to discussing topics such as meal plans, diet-related issues and integrative nutrition with nutritional supplements. I would love to down the line in my career also branch and open my own integrative meal prep services on the side to take the guesswork out of how to cook for the week and to be successful and make the appropriate diet changes if needed.† [00:03:45]
