Excuses Personal Trainers are Tired of Hearing!

Getting up and getting to the gym can be a task on its own. So, you decide to hire a personal trainer to help you intensify your workouts and stay motivated – but the desire to work out and the realities of actually getting it done don’t always go hand-in-hand. That’s when the excuses come in, and you start canceling your workouts at the last minute. Here are a few of the most common excuses for skipping the gym from some expert personal trainers:
1. “I don’t have time”
It all comes down to priorities. If you commit to making fitness a part of your life, you’ll make sure you get a workout in. Making a daily plan and fitting time to work out into your schedule is a good way to see that it gets done.
2. “I didn’t feel like taking another shower”
Professionals in the fitness world hear this excuse from women a lot. Yes, taking a shower can be a time consuming task, but there are ways around that. Try scheduling a work out first thing in the morning, so you can shower before you start your day.
3. “I need a glass of wine”
Some people feel the need to drink a glass of wine after their day is over. Sure, you can have a glass with dinner before your workout – but one too many, and you’ll probably miss your session. It’s best to get to the gym, complete your workout, and enjoy a glass of wine after.
4. “I have bad genes”
Blaming your genes is a common excuse for not trying to get in better shape. Yes, we’re all “built” a certain way, but that doesn’t mean we’re doomed to stay like that. It’s about knowing how to work with your body and doing exercises that work best for you.
5. “I don’t know how to do it”
That’s what trainers are for! Better yet, there are YouTube instructional videos for pretty much every exercise out there. Doing research and trying new things will help improve your fitness level significantly.
