Product Spotlight: Hepatox Hx® by Jerry Hickey, R. Ph
Hepatox is a combination of three liver-friendly plants; one is milk thistle, which contains triterpenes, flavanoids, saponins, and sterols, but the best known ingredient is the flavanoids known as silymarin. A polyphenol is known as silymarin. Silymarin is really a family of three liver-friendly antioxidants.
What does Hepatox mean?
“Hepa” means liver. So, there’s 100mg of milk thistle per capsule in a Hepatox and it’s 80% of silymarin, that group of flavonoids that is so good for the liver and soluble in the liver. The liver is just pretty big organ, the only organ bigger than it is your skin. And there’s a reason for that; it has so many jobs and it needs a lot of area to accomplish those jobs. It needs a lot of volume. Your liver helps create digestive ingredients, for instance, you create things that digest fat in your liver. Your liver helps clear the sugar out of your blood after a meal and if your sugar gets too low in between meals your liver helps release sugar back into the blood (gluconeogenesis).
So in other words, if you eat too much of a meal, your liver can store some of that sugar and release it to increase your blood sugar levels so that your body gets energy. Your liver filters chemicals, toxins, bacteria, viruses, and parasites out of your food and out of your blood. After you eat most foods, almost all the foods’ ingredients go through a big artery into the liver, which is called the portal circulation. So, when you eat a meal, most of the food except for certain fats, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals will go into the portal circulation, which is why you need to look after your liver by making sure you’re eating a healthy, balanced diet. Lining the walls of this artery are these huge white blood cells called macrophages, which will pick out little pieces of plastic, Styrofoam, and pieces of pesticides because if these things escape into your blood, they can attack your heart causing an infection in your heart and that can kill you. It can cause cardiomyopathy. So the liver cleanses the bacteria and the infectious organisms and the viruses out of your food. Your liver stores some vitamin K, vitamin A, and vitamin D and it stores a whole bunch of other things as well. It stores vitamin B12 and helps to create blood cells; it has all these different jobs, so many different jobs and because the liver also has to remove toxic chemicals from the back, and all broken down blood cells, it’s damaged. So it has to be able to heal and rejuvenate itself. So you could literally cut the liver in half and throw half of it in the garbage and the liver will grow back to its original size. But there’s a limit to how much a liver can be damaged.
If you damage more than 80% of the liver, it can no longer heal itself. Five or 10 minutes after swallowing the Hepatox, it’s already breaking down because it’s an extremely well-made vegetable Vcaps® capsule. It’s breaking down and it’s starting to enter into the liver and these milk thistle antioxidants can penetrate deep into the liver and its cells and protect them. The liver is controlling your cholesterol, your triglycerides, your blood sugar, which all cause inflammation of the liver. The liver is filtering pollutants, toxins, and pesticides out of your food. which can all damage the liver.
The milk thistle penetrates deep into the liver, shields the liver cells, and allows the liver to recreate itself. The liver creates its own proteins quicker and rejuvenates itself quicker. It is more successful at healing itself with it. The dandelion helps to shield the liver from like fatty cells which is why we put dandelion root in there. And phyllanthus amarus helps shield the liver from bacteria. Every time you eat there’s bacteria entering your liver and your immune cells are killing them. The phyllanthus amarus is a shield against the free radicals surrounded off by the bacteria. You know, when you eat something you get bacteria like anthrax in it. And anthrax is dangerous because it creates chemical warfare in your body.
Hepatox as an Internal Sunscreen
The Hepatox is for any adult’s liver, but it’s also for the gallbladder, the common bile duct, the kidneys and the skin. It’s good for almost anything from your belly down inside your body. It’s also great for your skin because the antioxidants in the Hepatox, the triterpenoids, the plant saponins and especially the silymarin antioxidants, they get into your skin too. And guess what time of the year it is, people take their sojourn, they take their winter trip down to Florida or they go on a cruise in the Caribbean. There’s an awful lot of sun exposure and most of us cannot handle it. And I tell people if you’re going in the sun, you can look at this supplement as an internal sunscreen and take one Hepatox. There are several antioxidants that do that, such as grape seed. When I use to have a boat, I would take grape seed and Hepatox and I’d slather on sunscreen. There are actually three antioxidants that are great for “sunscreen activities”, one is glisodin, but that wasn’t around when I had my boat. I used to have this small 23-foot boat that I used to take my kids out fishing on and exploring. I would take those and slather on my sunscreen and I know the grape seed was safe, so I used to give my kids grape seed because the grape seed will also help protect your eyes from the sun, which is great because the sun can be damaging for your eyes.
