I oftentimes like to spotlight certain nutrients and products from our product line to really show you the science behind these different formulations. Today, I want to spotlight our L-Carnosine Plus Hx formulation.†

What is carnosine?

Carnosine is a dipeptide that is made up of two amino acids, beta-alanine and L-histidine. We can find these amino acids in foods, as well as being naturally produced within the human body. One of the things that we know about this dipeptide is that certain cells that are needed for longevity contain high levels of carnosine. When we think about nerve cells or muscle cells, for example, carnosine is found in high levels within these cells.†

When we utilize this nutrient as a supplement, we’re helping to reestablish or restore the high energy demand for carnosine within those cells. If you think about the neurons in your brain, they require a lot of energy output. Your cardiac myocytes require a lot of energy output. We certainly understand that carnosine is playing a critical role in this.†

Why supplement with this nutrient?

Throughout the aging process, our body produces less and less carnosine. That becomes problematic because we are more vulnerable to destruction at the cellular level. When we look at conditions such as diabetes, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease, we can see the link where accelerated aging really starts to take off because we have excess glycation but not enough carnosine to fend it off. We need to be able to reestablish that level.†

Carnosine is considered to be an anti-aging amino acid, but it also has benefits for kidney health, vision health, cognition and more. The L-Carnosine Plus Hx is a fabulous formulation and a great way to make sure that you are getting in the key amino acids that you really need as you get older. We know so much about these amino acids, so we understand that they play multiple different roles.†

In the L-Carnosine Plus HxⓇ formulation, you’re getting the amino acid L-carnosine, but it’s also partnered up with quercetin, which is kidney-friendly. It also has rutin and thiamin in it, which are powerful antioxidants. It’s a very comprehensive formulation that’s a very nice way to support the vascular system, nervous system and muscular system.†

In this episode, Amanda Williams, MPH explains the science behind our L-Carnosine Plus HxⓇ formulation. She explains how the nutrients in this supplement help to fight glycation and promote health throughout the aging process.†
