Did you know that allergies are one of the most common chronic conditions in the United States? We know that there are certain times throughout the year when you are going to be more prone to all of the different things you may be sensitive to, including pollen, grass, trees, weeds and airborne mold spores. When it comes to fending off these issues, there are certain nutrients that can definitely be very beneficial if you start to use them well before your seasonal allergies begin.†

The role of antihistamines in seasonal allergies

So many people are affected by seasonal allergies. Many people go running to their local drugstore to find antihistamines, but what if we could get a jumpstart on their allergy symptoms? That’s why I want to talk about what you can be doing if you happen to fall into this category.†

One of the most common diseases out there is allergic rhinitis. Many people will get a nasal spray or prescription antihistamine from their doctor or an over-the-counter tablet for seasonal allergies, but researchers have now looked at what people should be doing instead of this. About ten years ago, a group of experts got together and looked at people who used these nasal sprays and antihistamines. Despite taking these treatments, people were still coming back year after year and complaining about seasonal allergies. These experts started to think about bolstering the immune system before those symptoms even come out. This is why it is so important to make sure we are always proactive.†

How to support your immune system

Seasonal allergies occur when the immune system gets revved up. The immune system responds to certain dusts, pollens, ragweed, etc. There are so many different things that can trigger allergic responses.†

What happens is we have this overproduction of our Th2 cells, which are the immune cells that are responsible for destroying foreign pathogens like allergens. This then generates immunoglobulin E. Because of this, we get too much histamine released into our body, which is what creates problems like itchy eyes and runny nose.†

If you deal with this every single year, you have to start thinking about what you can be doing. This is when we should be supporting the immune system. We can start by thinking about the dominant driver for our immune defenses, which is our intestines and the microbial environment. Having Probiotic HxⓇ on board every single day throughout the year is always advantageous because it allows you to continuously lay down good, healthy bacteria.†

We can also look at other things that come from nature that we know are very good at the regulation of immunoglobulin E and that histamine release. We look at things such as quercetin and Vitamin C. Both of these are very beneficial when it comes to that targeted immune system response when it is exposed to different allergens. We can look at rosmarinic acid, which is why our Black Seed formulation is a good go-to for seasonal allergies.†

The other thing is that we want to make sure that our liver has the ability to properly go through the phases of detoxification, so our natural antioxidants are at the ready. It’s always a good idea to incorporate nutrients that support normal metabolic detoxification. We can look at the Greens HxⓇ, which has a probiotic blend as well as fruit and vegetable extracts. We can also look at the Daily Detox powder. These are really wonderful ways to prime the body’s immune system and heighten your antioxidant capacity.†

In this episode, Amanda Williams, MPH discusses seasonal allergies, which are incredibly common in the United States. She explains why the body responds to allergens and offers recommendations for nutrients that can help protect the body from these reactions.†

Key Topics:

  • Common triggers of seasonal allergies
  • Why allergies occur

Let’s talk about the basics of supplementation today. People often ask me what vitamins and minerals they should include every single day, outside of any specific health concern that I may have. This is a very important question to ask because whether you’re new to supplementation or have been taking supplements for years, this is a crucial part of your daily routine. I want to talk in detail today about why it’s so important to make sure you include the basics.†

The importance of taking a high-quality multivitamin

Let’s talk about why it’s important to have a core multivitamin, multimineral routine each and every single day. Our Core Multivitamin is a comprehensive blend of all the essential vitamins and minerals that the body needs just to support everyday functionality. This includes our immune system, cardiovascular system, brain and liver. The Core Multivitamin is the best place to get started.†

This formulation also includes a comprehensive eye nutrient mix in it. You’re getting lutein to help fend off the effects of blue light rays. We have also power packed this formulation with antioxidants, because the more antioxidants, the better off we are.†

THE STRONG CONNECTION LUTEIN HAS ON MEMORY AND VISION – INVITE HEALTH PODCAST, EPISODE 4. Listen Now>>

We know that the average American is not getting adequate vitamins and minerals when it comes to their diet, so this is why taking a multivitamin is so integral to helping to support the longevity of your cells.†

How to combat nutrient deficiencies

We can look across the board and we can see how deficiencies in certain nutrients are linked to different health problems. Vitamin D is a huge one, which is why I also recommend taking Vitamin D3 as part of your daily routine. Researchers have linked low levels of Vitamin D with tension headaches, cardiovascular risk, respiratory health and immune function. We know that Vitamin D is very important.†

We also have to think about cellular energy production. This is why I always include Ubiquinol CoQ10 into anyone’s daily nutrient routine. Coenzyme Q10 is produced in the body naturally, but as we get older, that production starts to diminish. This means that our source of cellular energy begins to decline. This is problematic because CoQ10 is a nutrient that is essential not only for energy production, but also as one of our endogenous antioxidants.†

We also have to include magnesium in the mix because most people are not getting enough of this nutrient through their diet. Magnesium is required for over 300 enzymatic functions in the body. Even though this mineral is in the Core Multivitamin, so many people do not get enough of it, so I recommend supplementing with magnesium glycinate.†

Lastly, we want to be sure that we are supporting our gut-brain connection, so we’re going to include Probiotic HxⓇ. The better we can support our microbial environment, the better off everything in the body is going to function. This includes nutrient absorption, immune system function, cognition, inflammation and more.†

These are just basic nutrients that can help support your body on a daily basis. If someone is dealing with other health conditions that may require higher amounts of these nutrients, then you want to adjust based off of that.†

In this episode, Amanda Williams, MPH provides a list of nutrients that are important for helping the body function properly on a daily basis. She discusses why these nutrients are so important and why they work well together as a basic supplementation routine.†

Key Topics:

  • The importance of having activated nutrients
  • The downfall of many other multivitamins
  • Blood levels to get tested to help you understand your body
