Everyone’s heard the saying, “Oh, my aching joints!” Today, I want to spotlight one of our really amazing formulations that is very much geared towards the health of your joints. We know that arthritis is a major problem. There are so many millions of people who are affected by arthritic joints and they’re always seeking new ways or remedies to try to support that in a much more feasible way, without always having to turn towards NSAIDs. Today, I want to talk about one of those formulations that is concentrated towards all of the aspects of our joints.†
The important components in Flex Hx
Flex HxⓇ is an amazing formulation that our scientific director, Jerry Hickey, designed and developed. It contains hydrolyzed collagen. People often ask if they also need to be taking this if they’re taking another collagen supplement such as our Collagex HA and I always say the more the merrier. Take a scoop of the Flex HxⓇ along with the Collagex HA is a really good idea because we’re getting an amazing blend of these really synergistic nutrients to really optimize the health of our joints. We want to be able to flex our muscles, but we also want to make sure that our joints have good flexibility. We don’t want them to be stiff. We want them to be able to have nice, gliding movements. We can achieve this in our joints by restoring collagen with hydrolyzed collagen peptides.†
Then, we combine that with bromelain. Bromelain is a really amazing nutrient that comes from the stem of pineapple. This is a powerful proteolytic enzyme that works as a digestive enzyme, as well as for targeting inflammation. The Flex HxⓇ formulation also contains chondroitin. When we are using the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin, we are doing a lot of rebalancing of the joint space. We also have manganese in this formula. Manganese is a very important mineral that is involved in the synthesis and activation of many different enzymes that regulate a lot of different functions in the body.†
Research on how these nutrients work in the joints
Manganese plays a really substantial role in the joint space. They have done studies where they’ve given manganese to people who have osteoarthritis of the knee. By doing this, the researchers found that this helped to slow the destructive process of that arthritic joint. So how is manganese able to achieve this? When we understand the different places within where manganese is working, one of the places happens to be in the structure of ligaments and tendons. Manganese, copper and iron play a really key role in the health of our joints.†
Many other studies have looked at glucosamine and chondroitin. One large study looked at the efficacy of supplementation of the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin in people with arthritis. The researchers found that when they gave patients glucosamine and chondroitin, it does a really fine job of reestablishing the function within the joint and alleviating a lot of the symptoms that people have when it comes to arthritis.†
In this episode, Amanda Williams, MPH discusses Flex HxⓇ, a powerful powder formulation that is packed with nutrients that can support the health of the joints. She details the important role of the mineral manganese within the body and also references studies explaining how important many of these ingredients are for joint health.†
